Ponytails & the 80's

I had been getting tired of Paxi's current hairdo...her extreme frontal cowlick (Iknow this isn't how you spell this...help?) makes any other hair option out of the question. Unless...

she has a mullet ponytail! Her bangs totally don't fit, but I think they look cute swept to the side. She wants to be like mommy.

She was such a cooperative little model. If she didn't squish the mess out of the ponytail in her car seat, we would wear it more often. I shouldn't complain. There are probably 3 other babies in the U.S. who can wear a ponytail at (almost) 8 months.
So, it seems recently I have been getting this comment on a daily basis, "Kelsey, that baby looks just like Cody." It's funny, because as you recall, Cody & I pretty much looked like the same baby. But, the older Paxtin gets, the more I see myself looking back at me. Granted, that is totally her daddy's goofy smile & personality, but the rest is me. Here are some pics my mom & I dug out this week...

This is me at 8 months. The same age Paxi is (almost) now. Once again, I'll let you all decide.
Gotta love the 80's. I'm not sure what to look at first in this picture...me, the couch, or mom mom's sweet outfit.

Crash & Burn

I forgot to mention how our napping in the crib has been going in my last post.

I'll let the picture do the talking...

Time to bust out the outlet covers

Apparently sitting up just wasn't a grand enough accomplishment for P this month. We are sailing straight into crawling. She hasn't quite taken off yet-although, she can turn in perfect circles all over the place. She's up on her knees but, not quite sure what to do next. She's so close and I have never been so excited about something in my life. I throw toys out, hoping she'll take off after them. Soon. It's going to be soon. I clap and cheer at her like a crazy person...it's kinda like training a little puppy. "Here, Paxtin...come to momma!"

Paxtin (and I) were once again blessed by our 'clothes fairy', Kristine. She sent Paxi an amazing collection of the CUTEST Spring/Summer stuff. I am dying for the weather to warm up so I can dress her up in all her new stuff. Spring dresses and tiny white sandals...is there anything cuter?! Paxtin, however, would rather play in the big box.

Finally, in 2 weeks, Pax will attend her first baby birthday party. I know, silly, but if you know me, you know I love a first. Cady Cupcake is turning ONE (still can't believe it) and Paxi has been invited to help her celebrate her big day. Stay tuned for pics of the girlies and hopefully some CRAWLING!!

Naps, kissies, & personality

Just wanted to post and share whats going on in Paxi Land...

When we got back from Colorado, I decided it was the perfect time to initiate Operation Nap in Your Bed. Paxtin has enjoyed the luxury of sleeping wherever she wants during a nap. Mostly it would be ON me. Everday. Every nap. I got nothing done. It was time to get her into a routine of sleeping in her crib for nap. AT FIRST-she did great. I would lay her down awake, stand outside the door, and hold my breath. She whined a tad, but would moan herself to sleep. I was moon walking around the house. Mommies need time-outs, too.

Well...this week hasn't been so smooth, so far. AND-I think we are beginning to cut new teeth. I can read her like a book and I know when somethings amiss. I hope to God these teeth make a speedy debut.

Paxi is also now giving kisses. TO EVERYTHING. And everyone. It is absolutely the sweetest thing. I never imagined how amazing it would be to receive love FROM her. Such a blessing. I catch her kissing Lambchop on a daily basis.

So...I wrote all that before I posted the pic. Sneaky, sneaky!!

My brother had this bib made for P and it was too big for a long time. Now that she is GROWING LIKE A WEED...she is able to rock the cute bib.
Ugh. I wish I could bottle her up and save her just like she is right now forever. Her personality has blossomed and she is just a ham. I can't imagine where she got that from....

She's up

Paxtin has FINALLY mastered the art of sitting up. I wasn't sure if she was ever going to get it...she's a little top heavy. She loves sitting and playing with her toys.

Now, we've got to get her to give up the baby tub. I'm not sure why she won't take a bath without it, but she SCREAMS if we put her in the sink. Spoiled?? NOOOoooo...

= )
She's started giving kisses and I will get a video up of it soon. It's just the sweetest thing!

Ski Bunnies

I hate the cold. Everything about it. BUT-I LOVED SKIING. I thought I would probably hate it, but it was a blast. Not to mention a great workout!

We made it. All the way to Colorado and back without Paxi and we survived!! It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I had an amazing vacation, so I'm glad we went. Pax was VERY well taken care of and spoiled rotten while we were gone. She even turned 7 months old while we were away.

We are so happy to be home with our sweet Lambie and getting back into our routine. I think she's happy to see us, too.

Happy New Year...

For the first time in (almost) 7 months, I won't wake up to a sweet baby smile Tuesday morning. I say I'm ready for a vacation and maybe I am, but I can't help but be nervous about leaving her for the first time. I know that it will be good for Cody & I to get away. And I know Pax will be WELL taken care of. I can do this...it's what I have been telling myself since Cody booked the trip to Colorado. I can do this.

So...say a prayer for me this next week. Pray that my baby is safe & happy. Pray that I'm calm & I have a good time. And pray that I don't have to bring Cody home in a body cast.

But mostly...pray for my sanity.

See you all in a week!!
