Hey, where's the cocoa puffs

Ok-shots are over. They really weren't as bad this time, mostly because I knew what was coming as opposed to last time. I also decided that my sweet baby needed me to be strong and give her lots of love-instead of being a basketcase. She did SOOO well and as of today, no abnormal side effects. Besides, does this look like a baby who's hurting?!

"Sister Paxi Grace"

She then preceeded to the tub where she ripped all her band-aids off. Love that girl.

The doctor visit was super informative as always. Chunky Monkey struck again weighing in at 14lbs 8oz. I wasn't going crazy when I thought she felt heavier. She is!! She is also 25 " long/tall, which is 5 whole inches from when she was born. Paxi is in the 75th percentile now and according to her doctor-completely average. I'm thinking she is going to dwarf me one day. Her daddy already does. Cody is still holding on to his lurch theory.

I guess I just noticed within the last week how insanely alert she is. Wow-she is into everything. Good thing she can't crawl yet. But glasses on faces, patterns on clothes-everything has become interesting. As of two days ago-it became her feet. They are always in the air and she's got ahold of them at all times. She's still rolling like crazy and actually investigating her toys.

Of course she picked her Lambie... ; )

At 4 months, Paxi's doctor let me know it was time to start her on cereal & juices. Clueless as I was, I assumed the cereal went in the bottle mixed with formula. Actually, the cereal is used to train them to use a spoon and it should be mixed in a bowl. So excited

I ran to Wal-Mart bought 6 baby bowls, 24 spoons and forks, Rice cereal, apple/grape juice, new bibs, etc. I was ready.

I, of course, documented the first bite and wanted that initial reaction. Afterall, this is what I had waited those 9 months for, right?!

She wasn't quite sure at first, but the more she had of it-the more she liked it. I knew the chunky monkey wouldn't turn down ANY form of food!

And in good Blogger mommy style-I got it on video, too. But I am having trouble uploading...surprise, surprise....

We are currently using her carseat to feed her from-just call us the Clampet's- but will obviously have to invest in a highschair soon. As for solids, we will begin those at 6 months. When she masters the cereal. Let the mess begin.

= )

Pax is also very close to sitting up on her own. It seriously happend over night.

As for my overnight stay without her?! Let's just say I "chickened" out.

Fat baby in tiny tights

Pax attended her first wedding yesterday. She was so well behaved and we didn't have one meltdown. She finally got to meet one of my long time besties-Tasha.

We haven't worked on how to sit like a "lady" quite yet.

She also met another good friend of mine, Sara. Let's just say that Pax was very intrigued by her. Paxi hearts Sara. A lot.

The wedding was our first time to try out tights. I handed them to Cody-he was dressing her-and he looks at me and then at the tights and says, "You want me to put that baby in these tiny things?" Luckily-they stretched. (And held.) = )

Most definitely the best part of having a little girl is dressing her up. Doesn't she look thrilled?

It was great to see some of my friends yesterday. They all live out of town and I don't get to see them as much as I would like. Having Pax has also made traveling pretty much nonexistent. My last friend left in town (the bride) will be living with her new husband in CO. Just a bitersweet reminder of how times change the older we get.

Today was a lazy Sunday at home. Perfect time for a photo shoot. Paxi managed to finally get a hold of her feet in the process. Wonderful. We are heading into winter and my child is going to have wet socks all the time.

I had to get a picture of this outfit. Not because I just LOVE it, she has way cuter stuff, but because when I bought it, I remember thinking to myself that she wouldn't be wearing it until probably Feb. sometime since it was a 6-9 mo. outfit. Uh, no. Here we are at the end of October-almost 5 months old-and wearing 6-9 mo. CHUNK.

This week will be full of tears. Mostly for me, but also Paxi. We go Wed. for her 4 month shots-something that I am NOT looking forward to. I am taking Cody with me this time. And then Friday morning we will be leaving for Oklahoma City for a wedding. We won't be back until Sunday and I am already holding my baby a little tighter and kissing her lots and lots in anticipation. It will probably be the end of me.

There better be an open bar at this wedding.

Giggle Girl

I have been trying to upload two videos for a couple of days now and they aren't cooperating. So...I will just explain what's new in Paxi's life. Maybe I will get them to work eventually.
There are lots of new noises around the house these days. In addition to her giggling & laughing, which has picked up considerably, we now have a "shrieker." Yes-she shrieks/screams all the time. She screams when she's excited, she shrieks when she is getting fussy, but mostly just to hear her own voice. Apparently, she just learned that that little voice of hers can get as loud as she chooses. I found it comical that I could identify my baby from across a crowded department store. She's the shrieker.

She's a complete ball of happiness these days. Smiling, smiling, smiling. Happy, happy, happy.

She was SO excited about her first pair of Nike tennis shoes!!

I found a couple of pumpkin patches here in town that I want to try out. I know that Paxi can't walk around, but I am determined to get her out and experience lots of new things. What's better to see than a field full of orange "balls?" = ) Hopefully we find a fun patch to go to and get some super cute pumpkin pictures!
We have two weddings in the next two weekends. One of which Pax will not be attending. It's in Oklahoma City and Cody & I decided that she just wasn't ready to travel that far. I am dreading her first overnight stay with Poppy & Nannie, but I know they are thrilled. She will be well taken care of. I will just miss that smiling face those two days we are gone.I have never been away from her for a whole night. Neither of us have. Should be interesting.
Next week we have 4 month shots. Ugh.

She looks like...

You be the judge. Everyone wants to be "the ONE" that Paxi ends up looking like. Cody swears it's him-and well, I know it's me. Here we both are...at around the same ages that Pax is now.

And the verdict is...?

Making the Leap

She's officially an infant. (Well, officially tomorrow, but what's one day.) And I finally understand why 4 months is no longer considered a newborn.

Yep...she finally rolled over without any help. She hardly ever wants to lay on her back anymore without trying to roll onto her side or belly. Which makes diaper changing quite interesting these days. As well as dressing her and laying her on the couch. All things I could do with a newborn...mobility is officially underway and there is no going back. Not sure how I feel about getting into crawling and eventually walking. I am definitely not ready!

Her teeth are also about ready to make their big debut. What a week we are having! I can see 2 faint, tiny little white specks on her lower gums, so I know that it can't be much longer now. That and the fact that she has been a total bear for the past 2 days. She refuses to smile...well, her daddy is an exception, but everyone else has to all but stand on their heads to get a rise out of her.

So this, of course, made our 4 month photo shoot completely exhausting. Just when I thought she was going to give me a big gummy grin-nothing. Oh, well. Lucky for us, she is still cute, cute, cute whether she is smiling or not. Her usual photo shoot chair is now too small to hold her and the sign, so we had to get creative on the front porch.

She was way more interested in all the pumpkins around her. And the racket across the street...tree removal is now at the top of my annoying things neighbors do list.

I have been trying some of her winter outfits on her. Just to kind of get an idea of what size she is wearing. 3-6 months is working for now, but most of the 6-9 months stuff fits her, too. Which is good because I bought some way cute stuff for the Fall/Winter. Here's a dress her MiMi bought her. So adorable in brown.

The road stops here

Pax and I are so done traveling. We have visited family 3 weekends in a row and totally burned the road to NWA to a crisp. Not that I don't enjoy seeing everyone and sharing Paxi with them...I am just a self proclaimed home body and would rather be nowhere else.

Just a few pics I captured while we were there.

How cute are the little mommas?! Halle & Mia are crazy for P. So sweet.

And I'm crazy for Dale because he can always put Pax to sleep...always. = )

Becky is just crazy!! But she can't wait to get ahold of her baby!!
(I love the pumpkin shirt...maybe a tad too much?!)
P and her great grandma...and the rattle.

We made the trip to enjoy my birthday dinner. Birthday celebration #3. And the last...well, for this year.

I got to share the dinner & dessert with grandma and Kim. We all turned 26. = )
I got some awesome gifts, that I love and enjoyed a great day with our wonderful family. P was in a better mood and hammed it up a bit more this trip. I won't, however, tell you how the ride home went.

I have some potential rolling over videos. They aren't a full roll, so I am waiting to post until we get the entire thing. She is rolling to one side and then when nudged, goes on over. Stay tuned!!

Razzzberries

Fall is finally here and I am loving it. The weather, the decorations & wreaths on everyone's houses, and the beautiful leaves make this my favorite time of year. I would normally be so happy it's Razorback football time, but we won't go there...

Boo is already sporting her first Halloween looks. Wal-Mart actually had some super cute onesies for dirt cheap, so I couldn't resist. I mean, how adorable is this sweet baby pumpkin?!

I can't wait for the holidays this year. Watching Paxtin experience all of the sights and smells of Thanksgiving and the sounds of Christmas. It will be so neat to start traditions with her that continue all of her life. I have always wanted that-

Lately, Paxi has been working hard at getting a hold of her feet. Daddy taught her how fun they would be if she shoved them in her mouth.

Socks and all. I told you I can't leave these 2 alone.

Pax is developing and trying new things to do. I noticed yesterday that while on her tummy-she can lift her head, hold it up AND turn it towards a noise or voice she hears. Cody walked into the room while we were playing and she turned to look at him. I made him re-enter so I could capture the moment.

She's also sitting pretty good on her own, too. She has to be propped up, but she no longer face plants as soon as I let go. Progress! (I have no idea what is all over her jammies.)

She holds her head up with no struggle anymore. So no more pictures with her straining like a mad woman-going cross eyed. Her face just melts my heart over and over.

My Paxi is such a gorgeous little thing. I can't help but be partial. =)
I had a great birthday on Tuesday. Nothing exciting really happened, but my wonderful family gave me some neat presents that I love. I requested from my daddy (who is a stylist) that I wanted my hair done for my birthday. I desperately needed highlights put in and a cut. It turned out way better than I expected!! Here's P & I modeling my new hair.

Paxi's favorite, and I mean FAVORITE, thing to do-24 hours a day-is blow razzies. She does it when we change her diaper, in the car, always while in the swing, and sometimes I hear her doing it over the monitor in her crib in the mornings. It just cracks me up. Mostly because of her face when she is blowing them. Such a goose. I hear razzies in my sleep.
